2014 is here, and I’m back sharing all the news regarding the infrastructure integration aspects that came out through December for
SAP HANA, following the release of SP7.
In this post, I’ll focus on the backup and recovery
features.
On the following link you can find the presentation with all the details on what's new for SAP HANA 1.0 SP7 regarding backup and recovery: http://www.saphana.com/docs/DOC-4270
I would highlight pages 17 to 22 of that document, where it
comes clearly the way split mirror based backup & restore works:
o The
snapshot functionality of HANA has been available since SP5.
o The
improvement with SP7 is the integration with the HANA backup where the storage snapshots
are recorded in the backup log and can be used for later restore operations.
o Now
it is possible to do from a single user interface, a point in time recovery
starting from a disk based snapshot!
This may seem simple, but was not possible (or at least not simple) with the previous versions of SAP HANA.
So, here is another aspect proving the increased readiness of HANA for the prime time at the datacenter. SAP is spending well the developers time!
