The title
misleads to the content.
Going
through it, the conclusion is that the future of SAP Business Suite on HANA
will most likely be supported on a "Tailored Datacenter Integration" scenario.
Why? Simply because the appliance model doesn't fit the current management practices of many SAP customers, or because it just doesn't provide choice customers desire.
Business Suite applications usually have higher requirements in terms of performance, stability, availability and recoverability than Data Marts or BW Systems. As more customers adopt SAP Business Suite on HANA, new sets of solutions will need to come into play, that aren't necessary the ones that were most adopted in the early SAP HANA days.
This brings out the importance of storage systems providers, and the key aspects that make the external storage systems thrive in the Netweaver based world: increased availability and recoverability functionality.
Some of the reasons storage providers added significant value to SAP customers in the past, and will also become increasingly importante in the reality of Business Suite on HANA, are related to RTO (Recovery Point Objective) and RTO (Recovery Time Objective) requirements imposed by the busines units, in regards to the supported core business mission critical processes hosted on those systems, that not all providers can sustain.
Concepts like Continuous Availability and Continuous Data Protection come into play, as well as automation, human error prevention, stability and reliability.
