SAP HANA Productive on VMware is Available!!!

The announcement came this morning - Las Vegas time!:)

I woke up with tweets, messages, email alerts, etc.

It was expected as I've been over the last month or two working on this from the EMC side.

Why is EMC in this?

·         Because EMC was the first productive customer with SAP HANA virtualized on VMware,

·         and being VMware one of the companies part of the EMC Federation, there has been tight collaboration on this;

·         Because all the EMC Federation companies are committed to enabling and simplifying customer adoption of Hybrid Cloud Environments, moving away from proprietary technologies and enabling further choice for customers, being a part for enable SAP HANA to run on EMC's Cloud Enabled Infrastructure for SAP, being on the forefront of innovation in this area.

So like SAP's Arne Arnold wrote on his blog post, it was just a matter of time for this announcement to come.

Are all possible configurations and functionalities supported right away?

As I wrote on my previous blog about this, it's not just a matter of knowing that it works. SAP support is by nature conservative (and rightfully so), so it’s important to ensure that everything has been tested, and that proper support processes have been put in place.
